Iran and Turkmenistan have signed nine memorandums of understanding (MoU) on mutual cooperation, Iran's state IRINN TV reported Nov. 22.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has arrived in Tehran to attend the third summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) and discuss bilateral ties with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani.

The two sides signed documents for cooperation in various sectors including health, postal service, construction of electricity transmission lines, sports, road construction, railway transport, standards, as well as Radio and TV broadcasting on the sidelines of the meeting between Berdimuhammadov and Rouhani in Tehran's Saadabad Palace.

Earlier in March, Rouhani paid a two-day official visit to Ashgabat at the invitation of Berdimuhamedov. During the visit, Rouhani announced that Iran and Turkmenistan have decided to increase the total value of their economic exchanges to $60 billion in the coming decade.

The value of bilateral trade between Iran and Turkmenistan exceeded $4 billion in 2014.
