War should be the last option to settle the disputes, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said, Iran's State IRINN TV reported.

He made the remarks during a ceremony marking National Student Day in Sharif University of Technology in Tehran Dec. 7.

Rouhani said that relying on domestic capabilities and resolving the country's problem through internal potentials does not mean, closing doors for negotiation with the world.

He further said that war is Iran's last option for settling the problems, however the administration should be always ready for any possible war.

Certain people criticized the government of neglecting defense affairs under the shadow of its negotiation and "smile" policy, Rouhani said, adding the efforts made by his government in the last two years regarding military issues and developing strategic weapons is equal to all efforts in the past ten years.

"Iran is always prepared for any war," Rouhani said.

Simultaneously with victory in nuclear talks, the Islamic Republic test fired its most important missile, the Iranian president said.

He further referred to the need for safe environment at universities rather than security or military atmosphere, saying the government has managed to change the atmosphere of universities, economy, health while there exists a long way to go before reaching the desired status.

"We seek to make universities independent and free entities and we attach high importance to this issue," Rouhani said, adding if universities are not free, we won't make scientific improvement.

The Iranian president deemed university as the best ground to criticize "power" underlining "if power is not criticized or questioned, deviation and tyranny will appear."
