Iran's Guardian Council's member Siamak Rahpeik said that based on the latest statistics, above 28 million Iranians voted, Fars News Agency reported.
Some 4,844 candidates are competing, while about 55 million Iranians are eligible to vote.
Each nominee should get at least 25 percent of votes in his constituency, otherwise a second round of elections will have to be held a month after the results of the first round.
