Iran has for the fifth time prolonged the voting process for the parliamentary and the Assembly of Experts elections, Ministry of Interior said on its website.

Prior to this, the voting process was prolonged for four times.

The voting will end at 23:45 local time (GMT +3:30).

Earlier, a spokesperson for the Interior Ministry said the high voter turnout is expected to continue at the elections.

At 08:00 today, Iranians started voting to elect 290 members of the parliament, and 88 members of the Assembly of Experts.

Some 4,844 candidates are competing, while about 55 million Iranians are eligible to vote. Each nominee should get at least 25 percent of votes in his constituency, otherwise the second round of elections is held a month after the results of the first round.
