A senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has said that there are so many volunteers willing to fight in Syria.

Brigadier General Rasul Sanai-Rad, the IRGC deputy for political affairs, says his organization cannot sendoff all volunteer troops to Syria due to their high number, Mizan on-line website reported.

There are limited vacancies for Iranian advisors in Syria, that is why the IRGC is incapable of dispatching all volunteers, he added.

The remarks came following a report accusing the IRGC of torturing one of its members to death as he refused to join the forces in Syria.

Over the past years and since the crisis broke out in Syria and Iraq, several members of the IRGC have been reportedly killed in clashes with "terrorists".

Iranian officials have constantly denied that their servicemen have boots on ground in Syria and Iraq, saying the officers of the Islamic Republic are in Syria and Iraq as advisers at official request from both countries' governments.
