Tehran, Iran, Feb. 15

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei says the military threats by the “enemy” are only a cover-up for what they are doing to Iran in the economic sphere.
“That European official tells our official if it weren’t for the JCPOA, a war in Iran would be for sure. Sheer lies!” Khamenei said, his official website reported February 15.
“The real war is an economic war, the sanctions, and occupying the field of work and activity and technology in the country… The real war is a cultural war.”
Speaking on the national front, Khamenei dismissed a call to national reconciliation, recently propagated by the reformist side of the country.
“Such expressions mean nothing to me. People are together. Why do you talk of reconciliation? Are people at odds with each other?”
“Of course, people are angry with those who on the day of Ashura so heinously and barefacedly undressed a young Basij member and beat him,” he said, referring to an incident in the post-2009 election riots.
