Poisoning killed three Saudi Arabian children in Iran's north eastern city of Mashhad on June 7.

Also 23 Saudi pilgrims hospitalized with poisoning symptoms, Iran's official IRNA news agency reported.

Gholam-Ali Sadeghi, Mashad Prosecutor said that the issue is under investigation.

The initial investigation indicates that the incident has no intentional aspect, Sadeghi said, adding a special interrogator is studying the case.

No official information was published so far on the cause of the Saudi citizens' poisoning.

Millions of pilgrims from different countries annually flock to Mashhad to visit the holy shrine of Shiite's eighth Imam, Ali ibn Musa al-Reza.
