An informed source in the staff of Iranian Armed Force has confirmed that the artillery shell exploded in Iran 's central city of Isfahan was fired from a military base.

An artillery shell hit a park on June 10 in Isfahan city's southern area where military units from the army and IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps) were deployed.

The investigation indicates that a training-grade artillery shell was fired mistakenly from a military base in Isfahan, the source said, Iran 's Tasnim news agency reported June 15.

Preventive measures were taken on the issue, the source said, apologizing to citizens who were alarmed by the sound of the explosion.

No one was killed in the incident, however some Iranian media outlets reported that the explosions have left some people injured.

The IRGC Spokesman Brigadier General Ramadan Sharif earlier rejected claims that IRCG units fired the shell.
