Tehran, Iran, May 20
By Mehdi Sepahvand - Trend:
Some "organized current" has been closing down music concerts in Iran lately, said Iranian Ministry of Culture spokesman Hossein Nushabadi.
He condemned the closure of concerts of the locally famous musicians, such as Keyhan Kalhor, Shahram Nazeri and Alireza Qorbani as an "obstinate" act performed by "extremist groups," the ICANA news agency reported May 20.
Nushabadi praised the three musicians as some of the "purest artists of this land," expressing surprise over how they have been treated.
The concerts were closed despite the fact that their managers had already acquired all the necessary permissions from the government organizations.
