Most of Baku and regions of Azerbaijan experience problems with electricity at approximately 7:00 am (local time). According to preliminary version, problems with electricity occurred as a result of power generation failure.
The accident occurred at Mingachevir HPP, as a result of a lightning strike, Azerbaijan's Emergency Situations Ministry told Trend.
According to witnesses, the electricity problems have also affected Baku Metro's work, traffic lights and internet connection.
Traffic police regulates many key roads of Baku traffic control junctions. Power cut-off has not affected the cellular network, television and radio.
It was impossible to get information from Azerenergy yet. An hour later, electricity supply was gradually restored.
