By Temkin Jafarov - Trend: The wives, mothers, children and other family members of those sentenced to death in Iran for drug trafficking, have held a protest in front of the country's parliament in Tehran, Iranian IRNA news agency reported on Nov. 25.

The protesters demanded that parliament commute the death penalty to another form of punishment. According to Iranian media outlets this is not the first time relatives of those sentenced to death have held protests.

Foreign media outlets reported that over 400 people have been put to death in Iran since early 2013. According to Iranian media outlets, currently there are more than 300 in the country's prisons, who are on death row for drug smuggling.
