The Azerbaijani embassy in the U.S is examining the citizenship of Azerbaijanis arrested by the FBI on suspicion of espionage.
There is no exact information whether some detainees are Azerbaijani citizens, but the embassy has been instructed to consider this issue rapidly, spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Elman Abdullayev told Trend today.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that some individuals arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Houston on suspicion of spying for the Russian defense and intelligence services have the Azerbaijani citizenship. Azerbaijan has not yet officially confirmed Azerbaijan's citizenship of Shovket Abdullayev and Sevinj Taghiyeva included in this group.
