According to the data provided by the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, in January-October 2009, the communication enterprises provided population and businesses with services worth 819.0mln manat, or 13.7% more than the same period of 2008. Some 78.7% or 644.5mln manat of all communications services accounted for population.

As formerly, mobile communications make up the major part of communication incomes.

Some 71.7% of the profits fell on mobile communications, an increase of 12.3% compared to the same period of the last year. The number of mobile communication users in Azerbaijan since the beginning of the year increased by 1.3 million subscribers, according to data from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies. The number of mobile subscribers in Azerbaijan is 7.3 million. Today in the country 82 mobile subscribers is counted for every 100 people.

Currently three GSM operators function in Azerbaijan, including Azercell Telecom (3.7mln subscribers), Bakcell (1.5mln), Azerfon (1.2mln).  

After September reduction in tariffs for broadband internet access, the companies AzStarNet, Smart Systems, Connect, Ultel, Azeronline, Uninet (Stream), IntraNS, AztelekomNet and BakinterNet, in October AzEuroTel and TransEuroCom reduced the cost on Internet on ADSL technology (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line).

Today, under the new tariffs of AzEuroTel, the monthly cost of ADSL access with capacity of 2 Mbps varies from 18 manat (prepaid traffic 12 GB) to 88 manat (200 GB), depending on the volume of traffic. Monthly cost of unlimited ADSL access of TransEuroCom varies from 25 manat (256/256 kbit/s) to 110 manat (2048/1024 kbit/s).

Tariffs were reduced due to next reduction of tariffs for the channels rented by initial provider Delta Telecom. Tariffs were reduced from 275 manat to 110 manat per 1 Mbit/s. New tariffs have come into force since September 1. The last reduction of tariffs was fixed in February 2009.

IT products and services made up 860 million in January-October, or 12.9 percent up than the last year figure (data by the Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee).

According to the information provided by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Baku Telephone Communications Company has signed a contract with ZTE Company for the supply of telecommunications equipment for electronization of ATEs in Baku. The stations are constructed based on NGN.  

The specific weight of electronic ATEs in Azerbaijan as of October 1 made up 84.2 percent. This indicator in the capital is 85.7 percent, and on other regions of the country - 82.6 percent.
