Consumer market

In January 2010 a rise of the retail goods turnover got restored amid continuing rise of the community services and was 9.3%. The amount of retail goods turnover comprised AZN 1390.9mln. In particular, 73.1% of growth accounted for retail trade, 26.9% - paid services.

In January 2010 trading networks of Azerbaijan sold population consumer goods at 1016.4 million manat, which is 8.4% more than 2009. Legal entities provided 14.2% of turnover, fairs and markets - 41.5%, individual entrepreneurs - 43.5%.

According to the data provided by the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, of the total amount, AZN 668.8mln was made up of foodstuffs, AZN 374.6mln - non foodstuffs. The increase in sales on both goods was 8.8% and 7.6% respectively.  

In January 2010, every citizen of the country acquired consumer goods and paid services at 156.6 manat that is 14.3 manat higher than 2009. 

In January 2010 commercial services to population made up 374.5 million manat, or up 10.6 percent. Individual entrepreneurs provided 18.8% of services, legal entities - 81.2%, with growth of 11.9% and 10.3% respectively.

Prices

In January, the prices for food products rose by 0.6%, for non-food products increased by 0.6%, while tariffs for services rose 0.1%.

Compared to January 2009 the food prices reduced by 1.0%, non-food - increased by 1.4%, and tariffs of services - rose by 9.2%.

In January 2010, the base index of the consumer prices incurring seasonal changes (fruits and vegetable) and being regulated by the Government made up 100.3% as compared to the previous month, and 101.4% to 2009.    

As compared to the previous month, in January 2010 the index of industrial goods price increased 8.8%, but rose 75.7% compared to January of the last year.

The price in oil and gas production increased 12.1% in January compared to previous month, but rose 2 times compared to the same period of 2009.

The prices in refining chemical products increased 0.5% in the month and growth totaled 1.1% at annualized pace.

In January, the prices in metallurgy remained unchanged compared to the previous month, but declined 17.3% at annualized pace. The prices for electricity, gas and water remained unchanged compared to previous month and year.
