Nearly 2291.3mln manat was invested in the economy of Azerbaijan in January-April 2010, an increase of 5.5% from the figures of the previous year.
Especially, in April 654.5mln manat was invested in Azerbaijan's economy, which is 25.8% more than investments in the main capital in April 2009.
Major sources of investing in January-April 2010 were funds of enterprises and organizations (1199.9mln manat with an increase of 36.0%), budget funds (812.5mln manat, with a drop of 19.1%), non-budgetary funds (128.6mln manat, with a drop of 6.3%), bank credits (80.5mln manat, with an increase of 23.5%) and community funds (69.4mln, with a drop of 17.5%).
As seen, the increase in investment in January-April 2010 compared to the same period of last year is due to an increase in all investments, except the budget and community funds.
According to the data provided by the State Statistics Committee, private enterprises and organizations invested 906.9 million manat (39.6 percent of total investments) in Azerbaijan's economy and public enterprises and organizations - 1384.4 million manat (60.4 percent). Major share of governmental investments are directed at implementing transport and infrastructure projects. Despite lingering crisis, work over the ongoing projects continues and new projects are realized.
Investments in the oil sector made up 32.9 percent of capital investments to country's economy (754.6 million manat), non-oil sector - 67.1 percent (1536.7 million manat).
The gross investments in the industry totaled 989.6mln manat with an increase of 16.1%. About 65.5mln manat was invested in the processing industry (-11.3 percent). During the reported period, the gross investments in the extractive sector composed 746.3mln manat, which is 19.8% more than investments in 2009. Generally, 43.2% of investments fell on the industrial sector.
Investment in electricity, gas and water sectors totaled 117.3 million manat (+90.9 percent), transport, storage and communications - 653.9 million manat (-14.9 percent), including 653.2 million manat (-14.9 percent) in transport and 0.7 million manat (+9.8 percent) in communications. Investments in operations with real estate amounted to 142.7 million manat (-19 percent), including in housing construction - 140.7 million manat (-1.9 percent). Investment in agriculture amounted to 115.5 million manat, (+52.4 percent).
Investments for repair and construction works made up 69.2%, totaling 1585.7 million manat. Investment for the construction of production facilities totaled 1152.6 million manat, while non-production facilities totaled 1138.7 million manat.
Foreign investments with special weight of 22.9 percent amounted to 525.0 million manat, increasing by 37.9 percent as compared to the same period of the last year. The special weight of internal investments made up 77.1 percent.

Great Britain continues to keep leading positions on amount of investments to Azerbaijan. Weight of the country in amount of foreign investments hit 49.1 percent in January-April 2010, state statistical committee said. British investments hit 257.9 million manat.
Roughly 90.9 percent (477.3 million manat) of investments of foreign countries and the international organizations to the Azerbaijani economy fall on share of investors from Great Britain, the USA, Japan, Norway, Turkey and Korea.

The biggest amount of investments was allocated by WB in amount of 34.4 million manat with weight of 6.6 percent. WB projects cover different spheres of the country's economic life.
