Nearly 5218.1mln manat was invested in the economy of Azerbaijan in January-August 2010, an increase of 11.3% from the figures of the previous year.
Especially, in August 650.7mln manat was invested in Azerbaijan's economy, which is 35.7% more than investments in the main capital in August 2009.
The main sources of investments in January-August 2010 are:
funds of enterprises and organizations - 2698.2mln manat (increasing by 21.2 percent compared with January-August 2009); budgetary funds - 1770.8mln (an increase of 1.4 percent), non-budgetary funds - 294.1 million manat (with a reduction of 6.8 percent), bank loans - 270.7 million manat (increasing by 14.2 percent), funds of the population - 169.8 million manat (with growth of 3.1 percent).
As seen, the increase in investment in January-August 2010 compared to the same period of last year is due to an increase in all investments, except the budget and community funds.
According to the data provided by the State Statistics Committee, private enterprises and organizations invested 2142.6 million manat (41.1 percent of total investments) in Azerbaijan's economy and public enterprises and organizations - 3075.5 million manat (59 percent). Major share of governmental investments are directed at implementing transport and infrastructure projects. Despite lingering crisis, work over the ongoing projects continues and new projects are realized.
Investments in the oil sector made up 30.5 percent of capital investments to country's economy (1591.5 million manat), non-oil sector - 69.5 percent (3626.6 million manat).
The gross investments in the industry totaled 2217.0mln manat with an increase of 18.9%. About 253.6mln manat was invested in the processing industry (+63.5 percent). During the reported period, the gross investments in the extractive sector composed 1600.5mln manat, which is 24.3% more than investments in 2009. Generally, 42.5% of investments fell on the industrial sector.
Investments in electricity, gas and water sectors totaled 191.5 million manat (+4.6 percent), transport, warehousing and communications - 1384.8 (+10.4 percent), including 1381 million manat (+10.3 percent) in transport and 3.8 million manat (+56.7 percent) in the postal and courier services. Investments in real estate transactions amounted to 424.7 million manat (-16.5 percent), including in housing construction - 419 million manat (-4.4 percent). Investment in agriculture amounted to 261.7 million manat (+ 42.7 percent).
Investments for repair and construction works made up 66.0%, totaling 3441.8 million manat. Investment for the construction of production facilities totaled 2551.4 million manat, while non-production facilities totaled 2666.7 million manat.
Foreign investments with special weight of 21.4 percent amounted to 976.0 million manat, increasing by 37.4 percent as compared to the same period of the last year. The special weight of internal investments made up 78.6 percent.

Great Britain continues to keep leading positions on amount of investments to Azerbaijan. Weight of the country in amount of foreign investments hit 45.8 percent in January-August 2010, state statistical committee said. British investments hit 505.0 million manat.
Roughly 92.9 percent (1024.7 million manat) of investments of foreign countries and the international organizations to the Azerbaijani economy fall on share of investors from Great Britain, the USA, Japan, Norway, Turkey, Korea and France.

The biggest amount of investments was allocated by WB in amount of 50.8 million manat with weight of 4.6 percent. WB projects cover different spheres of the country's economic life.
