а) Oil and gas
In January-July Azerbaijan produced 27.7 million tons of oil and condensate, or 6.9 percent less compared to the figure in January-July of 2010, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said.
About 50.83 million tons of oil were extracted in Azerbaijan in 2010. The main part of oil production fell to Azerbaijan International Operating Company and gas condensate field Shah Deniz.
About 26.23 billion cubic meters of gas were extracted last year. About 16.67 billion fell to commodity gas. Gas production in January-July in Azerbaijan amounted to about 15.14 billion cubic meters, or 1.9 percent less than the same period of 2010.
In January-July Azerbaijan produced about 11.66 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, or 5.5 percent more compared to the same period of 2010.
b) Refinery
In January- July, Azerbaijan processed 3.64 million tons of oil compared to 3.66 million tons in January- July 2010, SOCAR, which owns two refineries, reported.
In January- July, the largest volume of production fell to diesel fuel - over 1 .33 million tons compared to 1.41 million tons in January- July 2010.
Oil products are produced at two Baku refineries with capacity of 20 million tons of oil per year.

c) Sale
The State Statistics Committee reported that over 2.4 million tons of oil products were sold to the internal market of Azerbaijan in January-July 2011, or 15.1 percent more compared to the same period of 2010.
About 650,100 tons of the total volume of oil products was petrol, which is an increase of 11 percent than in Jan.-July 2010. The wholesale price for one ton of А-92 gasoline in the internal market (VAT and transportation costs inclusive) is 670 manat and А-95 - 736 manat. According to the State Statistics Committee, Azpetrol received 250,300 tons of gasoline, LUKOIL - about 99,500 tons, SOCAR Petroleum 176,830 tons in Jan.-July.
About 596,400 tons of diesel fuel was sold to the domestic market in Jan.-July, which is by 21.1 percent more compared to the same period of 2010. The wholesale cost of 1 ton of diesel fuel (VAT and transportation costs inclusive) is 485 manat. Azpetrol received roughly 136,000 tons of diesel fuel, SOCAR Petroleum- over 128,200 tons and LUKoil - over 61,430 tons, the state statistics agency reported.
Azpetrol has 70 filling stations in Azerbaijan, of which 66 - petrol, 4 - gas stations. An oil tank farm with total capacity of 7,000 tons and car park, meeting international standards was commissioned in 1999 to improve fuel quality, ensure uninterrupted operation of filling stations and improve the quality of customer service. Currently, Azpetrol fleet consists of 110 fuel tankers with capacities ranging from 17 to 42 tons, which provide the company's filling stations with fuel. Azpetrol owns approximately 15 percent of the total number of filling stations in the country. The company's share in the relevant market sector is more than 50 percent.
At present, SOCAR Petroleum has several filling stations in Baku. SOCAR plans to open 100 filling stations in Azerbaijan. About 26-30 filling stations will be opened in Baku.
About 137,200 tons of fuel oil was sold to the domestic market in Jan.-July, which is 4.3 percent less than the figure in the same period of 2010. The wholesale price of 1 ton of М-40 fuel oil in Azerbaijan is 100 manat (including delivery and VAT).
A total of 303,800 tons of aviation kerosene was sold in January-July 2011, or 10 percent more than in January-July 2010. The price of aviation kerosene is 307 manat per ton (including delivery and VAT).
The sale of petroleum bitumen totaled 123,100 tons in Jan.-July, or 5.2 percent more than the same period of 2010. The wholesale price of 1 ton of bitumen BN 60/90 (VAT and transportation costs inclusive) is 160 manat.
About 87,300 tons of liquefied gas were sold on the interior market in Jan.-July, or 2 times more than in January-July 2010.
Some 507,100 tons of other oil products were also sold, or 18.1 percent more than in January-July 2010.
2. Chemical complex
Azerkimya Production Unit (production of chemical products) of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) produced 6,020 tons of caustic soda in January-July, which is 3.6 times more than the same period of 2010, Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said.
An increase was observed in all basic chemical products produced by Azerkimya in January- July.

Thus, 4.046.1 tons of solid polyethylene pipes, tubes and hoses were produced in January-July. It is 25.7 percent more compared to the same period of last year. Some 116 tons of porous polyurethane plates and strips were produced in the republic. It is 29.7 percent less than the same period of last year.
3. Power engineering
Azerenergy (power production and distribution in Azerbaijan) generated about 11.7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in January-July compared to over 11 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity for corresponding period of 2010, the company said.
Some 9.8 billion kilowatt-hours of total volume of electricity generated during this period fell on thermoelectric power plants and the remaining part on hydroelectric power plants.
Azerenergy generated 1.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in July, about 1.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity accounted for thermoelectric power plants, while over 0.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity for hydroelectric power plants.
