According to the international poverty assessment, there is a significant connection between the levels of education and poverty. Increasing expenditures on education, the risk of being exposed to poverty is reduced in the country. It is considered that those households where the head of the family has a vocational or technical education, suffer less from economic shocks compared to others. The children whose mother continued her education after school, suffer from malnutrition less than those whose mother has only secondary or lower education.

About 1.575.9 billion manat are planned to be allocated for education within the Azerbaijani draft state budget for 2012. This is 12.6 percent or 176.1 million manat more compared to the current year. At the same time, the figure hits 395.1 million manat or 33.5 percent more than the actual expenditures for education in 2010. The share of expenditures for education in total budgetary expenditures is 9.3 percent or 0.5 percent more compared to 2011.

Whatever pluses and minuses may be in the Azerbaijani education system, the goal of the education is the same as in all civilized countries - the preparation of well-educated citizens.
