In January 2012, the public budget income comprised 1.547.9 billion manat, or 37.8 percent of GDP. It increased by 38.0 percent compared to the same period of 2011.
Public budget expenses rose by 20.3 percent and made up 460.8 million manat (11.3 percent of the GDP). The surpluses of the budget totaled 1.087.1 billion (26.6 percent of GDP).
In the revenue structure, 48.3 percent (748.3 million manat) was provided by the Tax Ministry. Revenues from customs duties and taxes totaled 77.8 million manat (with weight of 5 percent) from other sources is 721.8 million manat (46.7 percent).
A total of 259.1 million manat was received from VAT, or 16.7 percent of all income, 376.2 million manat (24.3 percent) - profit taxes, 57.9 million manat (3.7 percent) - income taxes, 38.3 million manat (2.5 percent) - excise taxes, 9.9 million manat (0.6 percent)- property taxes, 3.0 million manat (0.2 percent) - land taxes, 9.9 million manat (0.6 percent) - subsoil tax and 33.9 million manat (2.2 percent) -taxes from foreign economic activities.
The public budget expenses for social security and provision of people comprised 184.8 million manat (40.1 percent). 23.6 million manat (5.1 percent) was spent on education, 5.2 million (1.1 percent) - health, 36.2 million (7.9 percent) - maintenance of prosecutor bodies, security and law-enforcement and court bodies, 9.6 million (2.1 percent)- investment allocations, 1.2 million (0.3 percent) - housing and communal services, 6.2 million (1.3 percent) - agriculture, fishing, 2.2 million (0.5 percent)- transport and communications.
