Public budget of Azerbaijan (Jan.-July 2012)

Actual revenue in the revenue part of Azerbaijan's state budget amounted to 9.681.2 billion manat (31.4 percent of GDP) in January-July 2012, increasing by 41 percent compared to the same period last year.

State budget expenditures increased by 38.8 percent and amounted to 8.605.7 billion manat (28 percent of GDP). The budget surplus for January - July amounted to 1.075.5 billion manat, or 3.5 percent of GDP.

Some 39.4 percent (3.81 billion manat) in the structure of revenues is provided by the Ministry of Taxes. Revenues from customs duties and taxes amounted to 665 million manat (with share of 6.9 percent), from other sources - 5.2 billion manat (53.7 percent).

During the reporting period 1.258 billion manat was received from the collection of VAT, which represents 13 percent of total income; profit tax revenues amounted to 1.621.1 billion manat (16.7 percent), income tax - 452.2 million manat (4.7 percent), excise tax - 312.9 million manat (3.2 percent), property tax - 67.1 million manat (0.7 percent), land tax - 22.5 million manat (0.3 percent), tax on mineral resources - 73.3 million manat (0.8 percent), and the tax on foreign economic activity - 403.2 million manat (4.2 percent).

Some 1.116.9 billion manat of the budget (with a share of 13 percent) was directed to social security and protection of the population; education - 767 million manat (8.9 percent), health care - 286.5 million manat (3.3 percent), maintenance of the prosecution, security, law enforcement, judicial authorities - 440.6 million manat (5.1 percent), investments in the economy - 4.462.6 billion manat (51.9 percent).

Some 161 million manat (1.9 percent) of the total investment was directed for housing and utility costs; for agriculture, forestry, environment and fishery - 223.7 million manat (2.6 percent), transport and communications - 35.4 million manat (0.4 percent).

Some 24 percent (2.062.5 billion manat) of public expenditure was spent on the payment of salaries, pensions and benefits.
