Azerbaijani production wells included in top BP wells

Four production wells at Shah Deniz have occupied the third, fourth, fifth and sixth position among the 20 most productive BP wells at the end of 2011, BP said.

BP is the technical operator of the development of Shah Deniz field.

Two wells in the Western Azeri and one well on the field Chirag rank 16th, 17th and 18th respectively.

Drilling well in Azerbaijani offshore field completed

SOCAR-AQŞ has completed the drilling of the Gunashli-13 platform in the shallow part of Guneshli in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, SOCAR-AQŞ said.

According to the report, it is the fastest drilled well in the field.

The design depth was 3,000 meters, but its drilling was provided at a depth of 3,009 meters within 42 days. Usually 90 days is required.

SOCAR-AQŞ was created in 2007. Its main area of ​operation is drilling oil and gas wells in the Caspian Sea.

SOCAR creates wholesale network of petroleum products in Turkey

SOCAR has created a facility on petroleum product wholesale in Turkey, SOCAR head Rovnag Abdullayev told media today.

He said that at present, SOCAR aims at increasing the number of oil depots in Turkey for greater coverage in this country.

The issue of acquisition or establishment of retail sales of petroleum products will be relevant after the construction of the company's refinery in Turkey.

SOCAR: TANAP gas pipeline construction to be launched in 2013

The construction operations within the Trans-Anatolia gas pipeline (TANAP) are planned to be launched by late 2013, SOCAR head Rovnag Abdullayev said.

The company plans to start buying land for the construction of the pipeline in 2013. All design and regulatory work within the project are conducted in parallel to accelerate its implementation, Abdullayev said.

Iran plans to produce ANG for vehicles

Iran plans to produce adsorbed natural gas (ANG) domestically, to substitute the compressed natural gas (CNG) in the near future, Mehr reported.

Country's National Oil Refining and Distribution company and Research Institute of Petroleum industry have agreed to study the issue, and implement this strategy in the future.

Head of Oil Research Center Ali Morad Rashidi said that Iran has recently successfully achieved the point of producing ANG, as CNG's alternative.

Today's conventional approaches to natural gas storage are compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquid natural gas (LNG), but both have significant drawbacks - high costs, low storage efficiency and public safety concerns.

The favored alternative to these two storage methods is adsorbed natural gas (ANG) on a porous medium such as activated carbon.

Construction of deep oil processing plant begins in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan held the ceremony of 'laying the foundation stone' in the basement of the construction of a deep oil refining complex at the Atyrau refinery, KazMunaiGas said.

Participants in the project are JSC Samruk-Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund, KazMunaiGas, KazMunaiGas - Processing and Marketing, Atyrau Refinery and OmskNefteHimProekt (Russia).

The cost of the project is $1.679 billion and its implementation period is 41 months.

As part of the project licensing, agreements were signed with the French company Axens, the American company UOP, technologies of Italian company Foster Wheeler and Russia's Omskneftehimproekt have been developed.

The complex is designed to process 2.4 million tons of raw materials (oil, vacuum gas oil) per year.

KazMunaiGas and Petrovietnam sign memorandum of understanding

Kazakh National Company 'KazMunaiGas' and Vietnamese company Petrovietnam have signed a memorandum of understanding, the national company told Trend.

According to the company's official representative, both sides intend to develop cooperation in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons.

"The matter rests in exploration and production on the free onshore site in the Mangistau region," the company spokesperson said.

Kazakhstan, South Korea to conduct exploration in Caspian shelf

Kazakhstan and South Korea plan to work together and to conduct exploration to find hydrocarbons and rare earth metals in Kazakhstan, South Korean President Lee Myung-bak said in Ak Orda.

"We have agreed to start active operations at the Zhambyl field next year," Lee Myung-bak said after his talks with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Zhambyl deposit is located in the Kazakh part of the Caspian shelf.

Fitch Affirms Kazakhstan's JSC KazTransOil at 'BBB-'

Fitch Ratings has affirmed Kazakhstan-based JSC KazTransOil's (KTO) Long-term foreign currency Issuer Default Rating (IDR) at 'BBB-' and Short-term foreign currency IDR at 'F3', the agency reported on Thursday. The Outlook on the Long-term IDR is Stable.

According to the report, the affirmation follows Fitch's expectations of KTO's continued dominance in oil transportation in Kazakhstan, moderately declining crude transportation volumes and flat tariffs over the medium term, strong operating cash flows and negative net debt position on a sustained basis.

Kazakhstan increases export tax duties on oil products

The Kazakh government has adopted a resolution whereby export tax duties on oil products are to be increased.

The resolution was signed by Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov on September 7 and will take effect 10 days after its official publication.

According to the data, the customs duty rates on the export of light oil products hit $168.88 per ton and dark oil products - $112.59. Export tax duties on crude oil hit $40 per ton.

Turkmenistan estimates its hydrocarbon reserves in 71.6 billion of oil equivalent

Total hydrocarbon resources of Turkmenistan amounted to 71.6 billion of oil equivalent, including 20.8 billion tons of oil and 50.8 trillion cubic meters of gas, Minister of Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan Kakageldy Abdullayev said at the conference Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat.

He noted that hundreds of prospective oil and gas structures revealed in Turkmenistan, about 160 deposits were opened and about 60 of them are developed in Turkmenistan.

Ashgabat to discuss CIS gas export projects
