WB revises outlook of Azerbaijan's economic growth

The World Bank (WB) revised the 2014 economic growth forecasts for developing countries in Europe and Central Asia due to the Ukrainian crisis, according to the bank's statement.
In the WB's updated outlook, this year Azerbaijan's economic growth is expected to reach 4.5 percent.
Earlier, the WB analysts said they expect a 5.2-percent GDP growth in Azerbaijan in 2014, and a 4.1-percent GDP growth in 2015.
According to Azerbaijan's socio-economic development concept, drafted by the Ministry of Economy and Industry, the real GDP growth in the country is expected to reach 5.2 percent in 2014.

Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan to create e-database for sharing information on goods, transport

Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan customs will establish an e-database for sharing information on goods and transport as part of the signed bilateral cooperation plan.
The plan was signed between the customs services of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan for 2015-2016 in Baku.
The document was signed by Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan Aydin Aliyev and Chairman of the Customs Service of Uzbekistan Zohid Dusanov.
A protocol on exchange of preliminary information about goods and vehicles transported across the state borders of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan was signed as part of the meeting.
The protocol aims to organize an e-database that will allow the services to exchange information.

President Aliyev attends opening of first part of Gala-Pirallahi highway

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of the first part of Gala-Pirallahi highway after reconstruction.

The road, which was redeveloped under the Plan of Action for the execution of the 2014-2016 State Program on the socio-economic development of Baku and its suburbs, is nearly 22 km in length.

As part of the state program, this project is primarily aimed at ensuring transport communication in the direction of the city centre and Gala and Pirallahi.

Road junctions and pedestrian crossings were built, green areas laid out along the road under the project. All communication systems, including water, heating, gas and drainage lines were changed.

Czech Republic ready to import agricultural products from Azerbaijan

The Czech Republic is interested in importing agricultural products from Azerbaijan, especially vegetables, fruits and wine, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture of the Czech Republic Jaroslav Faltýnek said at the meeting with Azerbaijani Minister of Agriculture Heydar Asadov.
The minister invited leasing companies and banks of the Czech Republic to the Azerbaijani leasing market as part of enhanced cooperation between the two countries. He offered to invest in the agricultural sector of the country, to exchange information and experience between countries.

Moreover, he offered to implement the mutual exchange of students and doctoral candidates between the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University and the relevant institutions of the Czech Republic, to organize advanced training courses and to conduct joint research work.

Joint declaration adopted at BTK conference

Unsolved conflicts in the region are the main obstacles for regional cooperation and realization of joint transport projects, said the joint declaration adopted in the "Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line - new opportunities in the development of the Silk Road" international conference.
At the same time, the parties stressed the importance of increasing of the level of cooperation in all aspects of the development of Eurasian transport connections and restoration of the Great Silk Road.
"Parties will promote wider use of electronic document circulation and intelligent transport system. They will also continue to take agreed measures for closer regional economic integration through implementation of the projects of joint development of transport infrastructure, as well as creation of favourable investment climate and competitive market for transport services," said the declaration.

Azerbaijan, Iran to create joint broadcasting committee

Azerbaijan and Iran signed a cooperation agreement on creation of a joint broadcasting committee, the Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan said.
The document was signed by the Azerbaijani Communications and High Technologies Minister Ali Abbasov and the Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) Ezzatollah Zarghami.
A special group will be working to create the joint committee, according to the agreement.
The working group will draft an agreement on establishment and operation of the joint committee. The agreement will then be sent to the two countries' officials for signing.

President Aliyev, first lady open "Qarabağ SPA & Resort" hotel complex in Naftalan

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his spouse, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening of "Qarabağ SPA and Resort" hotel complex in Naftalan district of the country.

Important projects implemented in the field of tourism as a result of President Ilham Aliyev's successful policy lay strong foundations for this.
There has been a big tourist flow to Azerbaijan in recent years. So, complex measures are being taken to develop hotel industry in the country.
