New gas field discovered in Turkmenistan

A powerful commercial natural gas inflow was obtained at the 'Bagly-1' area in the Karakum Desert in Turkmenistan's Mary Province, the Turkmen newspaper 'Neutral Turkmenistan' said. The daily hydrocarbon output at the new field exceeds one and a half million cubic meters.

BP resumes production at largest gas field in Azerbaijan

BP resumed natural gas production at the Shah Deniz largest gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, stopped earlier due to maintenance work on the platform.

"We resumed gas production at the Shah Deniz platform in the evening of Aug.23," head of the press service of the BP-Azerbaijan Tamam Bayatli said. "The process of bringing it to full capacity will take place gradually. The entire work program was successfully finished, and maintenance work was completed earlier than planned. The testing process was also successfully conducted, after which production was resumed."

SOCAR confirms interest in acquiring DESFA stake

SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) has confirmed its interest in acquiring a stake in Greek gas transmission system operator DESFA with a possibility of completing the transaction by late 2015, Reuters reported quoting a representative of the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF).

The representative said that Athens examined the variant, in which SOCAR will acquire a 66 percent stake in DESFA with the further transfer of 17 percent to the Greek government or the third party to comply with EU requirements.

The representatives of HRADF and Hellenic Petroleum held a meeting with SOCAR representatives. The sides reaffirmed their commitment to the rapid completion of the transaction, HRADF said.
