Prices and situation in consumer market in Azerbaijan (January-November 2015)

According to the State Statistics Committee, as of December 1, 2015, the Azerbaijani consumer market amounted to 29.836 billion manat, which is 9.8 percent more than its turnover for the same period of 2014. The monthly consumer expenses are estimated at 284.8 manat per capita in January-November 2015 or by 32.5 manat more compared to January-November 2014.

According to the State Statistics Committee, the Azerbaijani trading networks sold consumer goods to the population at 22.435 billion manat in January-November 2015, which is 11.1 percent more than in the same period of 2014. Legal entities ensured 11.1 percent of trade turnover.

The food trade (10.183 billion manat) increased by 11.8 percent from year to year in January-November 2015, while retail sales of non-food items (11.249 billion manat) - by 13.5 percent.

The retail sale volume of non-food items was bigger than food trade.

Over this period, every citizen of the country acquired consumer goods at 214.1 manat per month, which is 28.2 manat more than in January-November 2014.

Paid services worth 6.451 billion manat were rendered to the population in January-November 2015 or 5.4 percent more compared to January-November 2014. Legal entities ensured 55.5 percent of this growth and rendered the services worth 4.724 billion manat or by 4 percent more than in 2015.

Each citizen bought paid services worth 61.6 manat per month in January-November 2015 or 3.1 manat more than in January-November 2014. Transportation, public utilities and communication services prevail in the structure of paid services.

Prices

According to the State Statistics Committee, the prices on consumer goods and tariffs on services increased by 0.4 percent in November 2015 compared to October.

The food prices increased by 0.9 percent, non-food items and tariffs for services remained unchanged in November (compared to the previous month).

The inflation hit 3.7 percent in January-November 2015 compared to the same period of 2014.

The food prices increased by 5.9 percent, non-food items - 3.1 percent, tariffs for services - 1 percent in Azerbaijan in January-November 2015 compared to the same period of 2014.

The base index of consumer prices, calculated except for the goods and services subject to seasonal changes (fruits and vegetables) hit 104.3 percent in November compared to January-November 2014.

A decrease in prices for beef, lamb, buckwheat, lemons, oranges, tangerines, apples, bananas, quince, cabbage, persimmon, greens, pumpkin, beets, carrots was observed in Azerbaijan within a month.

During this period the prices for rice, flour, poultry, sausages, dairy products, eggs, butter and vegetable oil, grape, cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplant, sweet peppers, potatoes, onions, garlic increased.

The industrial producer price index decreased by 7.1 percent in Azerbaijan in November 2015 compared to October.

During this period, producer prices in the mining industry decreased by 8.2 percent, while reduced by 1.4 percent in the manufacturing industry.

The producer prices for crude oil extraction decreased by 8.2 percent in November, while extraction of metal ore increased by 2.3 percent. The producer prices in the production of other products remained unchanged compared to October.

The production prices in the metallurgical industry decreased by 6.8 percent, chemical industry - by 5.8 percent, production of oil products - by 1.9 percent, production of paper and paperboard - by 0.3 percent, production of rubber and plastics - by 0.2 percent, food products - by 0.1 percent.

The prices in the production of beverages increased by 1.2 percent, construction materials - by 2.2 percent in November. The production prices for other types of activity remained unchanged in the manufacturing sector.
