а) Oil and Gas Production

In January-June 2017, 19.16 million tons of oil and gas condensate were produced in Azerbaijan, which is by 9 percent less than in the same period of 2016.

In 2016, 41.03 million tons of oil and gas condensate were produced in Azerbaijan, which is by 1.5 percent less than in 2015.

The main volume of oil production in Azerbaijan accounts for the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) block of oil and gas fields.

The production of commercial gas in Azerbaijan stood at 9.34 billion cubic meters in January-June 2017, which is by 0.2 percent less than in the same period of 2016, according to the State Statistics Committee.

The commercial gas production stood at 18.71 billion cubic meters in Azerbaijan in 2016, as compared to 19.72 billion cubic meters in 2015.

Shareholders of the project are BP (operator, 35.78 percent), Chevron (11.28 percent), Inpex (10.96 percent), AzACG (11.65 percent), Statoil (8.55 percent), Exxon (8 percent), TPAO (6.75 percent), Itocu (4.3 percent) and ONGC (2.72 percent).

SOCAR announced production volumes at the biggest gas field in Azerbaijan. So, 83 billion cubic meters of gas and 21 million tons of condensate have been extracted from the Azerbaijani biggest Shah Deniz gas field since the beginning of operation in 2006.

Up till now, Azerbaijan has exported 6.3 billion cubic meters of gas via the South Caucasus Pipeline to Georgia, and 46.5 billion cubic meters of gas to Turkey.

Thus, 2.3 million cubic meters are supplied to Georgia, 18.5 million cubic meters of gas to Turkey daily within the first stage of development of the Azerbaijani Shah Deniz gas condensate field.

The work on the second phase of development of Shah Deniz field is being intensively carried out and has been completed by 93 percent.

The 56-inch section of TANAP, which would allow delivering gas to Turkey, is practically complete.

The work on the 48-inch section of the pipeline to deliver gas to Europe is underway.

- Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR has launched a new water cooling installation at the Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery, Trend’s correspondent reported.

Construction of the installation, the main project of which was developed by France’s Hamon Thermal Europe, started in 2015. The installation’s capacity is 7,000 cubic meters of water per day. Its commissioning will ensure continuous and reliable supply of cold water to technological units, reduce dependence on external sources, improve the quality of products and reduce losses.

The SOCAR management also viewed the reconstruction of an installation for regenerating saturated amino acids, with a capacity of almost 780,000 tons, as well as a catalytic reforming unit.

The volumes of gas in the Azerbaijani underground gas storage facilities exceed 1.3 billion cubic meters. SOCAR has pumped 547 million cubic meters of gas into the tanks since the beginning of pumping gas into the underground gas storage facilities up till June 1.

- SOCAR will additionally produce around 7,300 tons of oil and 730,000 cubic meters of gas annually through commissioning of a new well which is being drilled on the Oil Rocks offshore field.

According to the message, the projected depth of the well is 2,800 meters, while the daily debit is expected to reach 20 tons of oil and 2,000 cubic meters of gas.

- SOCAR will additionally produce 40.15 million cubic meters of gas and 5,840 tons of condensate annually as it has commissioned a new well at the Gunashli offshore field.

Well #31 was drilled from the new platform #11.

- Azerbaijan’s SOCAR-AQS LLC has completed drilling of a new well at the Western Absheron field in the Caspian Sea.

The well’s depth is 750 meters.

Azneft Production Union placed the order for drilling.

Currently, the company is conducting drillings at the Gunashli, Western Absheron, Umid and Bulla Deniz fields.

- SOCAR will additionally produce about 7,300 tons of oil per year through drilling of four new wells at the Darwin Bank offshore field.

In this regard, SOCAR has completed reconstruction of platform #720 at the field.

- SOCAR will additionally produce more than 8,000 tons of oil per year through commissioning of a new well at the Oil Rocks offshore field.

b) Processing

Azerbaijan produced 2.41 million tons of oil products in January-June 2017 compared to 2.68 million tons in the same period of 2016, said a report of the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee.

SOCAR, which is the sole producer of oil products in Azerbaijan, is currently modernizing its processing facilities, as the fuel consumption has increased in the country.

Azerbaijan produced 618,300 tons of gasoline in January-June 2017, which is eight percent more than in the same period of 2016.

Azerbaijan produced 5.17 million tons of oil products in 2016 compared to 5.45 million tons in 2015.
