Some 26 people were detained on suspicion of involvement in the riots in Zhanozene and Shetpe, Kazakhstan's Interior Minister Kalmukhanbet Kasimov said at a government meeting in Astana on the restoration of facilities in Zhanaozen on Wednesday.
"So far, 16 people have been arrested on Zhanaozen, wwith another 10 in Shetpe," Mr Kasimov said. He said almost all of the perpetrators and instigators of the riots are detained.
Mass riots hit the Kazakh oil town of Zhanaozen in the Mangistau region on Dec.16 killing 17 and injuring more than 100 people.
