Uzbekistan and China expand cooperation in agriculture

Governments of Uzbekistan and China signed a protocol on amendments to the agreement on the establishment of the Uzbek-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee, the press service of Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

According to the document signed on Thursday, a sub-committee on cooperation in the field of agriculture will be established within the Uzbek-Chinese intergovernmental committee.

Competent authorities on organization of sub-committee's activities are the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Agriculture of China.

As reported, the Uzbek-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee was set up in 2011, the first meeting of the committee took place on October 25-26, 2011 in Beijing.

The decision to establish a joint high-level structure of cooperation for systematic development of relations between and creation of a sound institutional framework for bilateral relations was made during the visit of President Islam Karimov to China in April 2011.

In June 2012, during the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to China, the Declaration on Strategic Partnership was signed, along with a set of documents that provide for implementation of over 30 investment projects totaling more than $ 5.3 billion.
