Iranian Parliamentary speaker Ali Larijani has started his regional tour, and is currently in Syria, after which he will visit Lebanon and then Turkey, IRIB News reported.

On the eve of his leaving, Larijani told reporters that the trip is necessary for holding consultations with major regional states.

Regarding his visit to Syria, Larijani said that the Western states have been pursuing "an adventurous attitude" with Syria, and using intention for reforms as an excuse to destroy the country.

The speaker said that while the Western efforts have not been successful, the damage has been done to the people of Syria.

He added that Iran supports real democratic reforms in Syria, and welcomes different strategies in this regard.

Larijani expressed hope that the 2-day national dialogue meeting in Tehran will help to find a necessary solution to the Syrian crisis.

The 2-day national dialogue on Syria meeting wrapped up in Tehran on Nov. 19, with some 40 active Syrian political parties and a total of 130 personalities from Syria attending. Iran has put forward its own suggestions regarding the situation in the neigboring country.

Regarding the Lebanon visit, Larijani said he will discuss important issues with Lebanese officials connected with resistance to Israel.

After Lebanon, Larijani is scheduled to visit Turkey and participate in Ashura celebrations, as well as meet with Turkish officials to discuss bilateral relations between Turkey and Iran, and other regional issues of mutual interest.
