Ten Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorists surrendered to security forces in the southeastern province of Shırnak on Sunday Today`s Zaman reported.

Releasing a statement early on Monday, Shırnak Governor's Office said an investigation has been launched into the terrorists who surrendered.

The PKK deserters, who are Turkish citizens, are eligible to benefit from a law that guarantees amnesty. According to the popularly termed Repentance Law, or Turkish Penal Code (TCK) Article No. 221, PKK members who surrender to security officers will be released if their criminal records are found to be clean, on the basis of having left the terrorist organization without having committed any crimes.

Meanwhile, one PKK terrorist was killed on Sunday in an operation in the eastern province of Bitlis, a statement released by the Bitlis Governor's Office said.

Security forces also seized two Kalashnikov rifles, six full Kalashnikov magazines and five hand grenades during the operation.
