Georgia, Tbilisi, Nov.20 / Trend N.Kirtskhalia /

All offices of Tbilisi electricity distribution company Telasi, owned by the Russian company RAO UES were closed in Tbilisi on Tuesday. All the employees of the company, except those who ensure supply of electricity to the city and emergency crews, went on strike.

The general strike in the company started in support of seven former employees of the company , who went on hunger strike already for a week. They are demanding reemployment of Telasi company's 125 employees, who were fired in the summer of 2012.

Earlier, Telasi employees held preventive action, but it yielded no results. No decision has been made despite they were promised about reemployment of the dismissed people. A week ago, three people went on hunger strike, and later four more people joined them.

Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze will today meet with strikers.

He told reporters that a working group of RAO UES will arrive in Tbilisi on Monday, Nov.26, with which he will try to resolve this issue. He asked the Telasi employees to continue working until then.
