The U.S support for Georgia is quite straightforward, chairman of the Georgian Parliament David Usupashvili told Georgian TV companies following a visit to the U.S.

He said that this five-day visit to the U.S. was very useful, interesting, and fruitful.
Usupashvili said at the meeting with Senator John McCain that Senator McCain, as always, is ready to assist Georgia and give the right advice to his old friends (from the previous government) and cooperate with new friends in the face of the new authorities.

John McCain is one of five senators who sent a letter to Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili in December and expressed concern about the criminal records keeping against former top officials.

Usupashvili held several meetings with representatives of both houses of the U.S Congress, including Republican Senator John McCain and Democratic Senator Carl Levin. He also met with minority leader of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and congressional Democrats John Garamendi, Sander Levin, David Price, Ted Deutch and Jim McDermott.

Georgian MPs also met with congressional Republicans Howard McKeon, who heads the Congressional Committee on Armed Services, as well as Jeff Miller, Tom Marino, Steve Stockman, Mario Diaz-Balart and Kay Granger.
