Russian Southern Military District's military base has started live fire exercises at the Kamkhud and Alagyaz educational-training complexes in Armenia.

Over 600 soldiers and about 200 armored units, motor vehicles and special military equipment of mechanized infantry units, tank and artillery units, anti-aircraft missile and special units are participating in the trainings, news.am website reported with a reference to the Southern Military District's press service.

The military base's command aims to teach the soldiers how to effectively execute tasks in any climatic conditions and any stationing locations and to improve skills in using modern weaponry and military equipment.

In particular, attention is being paid to working out action in high mountains areas, organizing and maintaining interaction, controlling the fire of personnel and other units, the improvement of skills in executing individual and group tasks.

During the winter training period the unit plans to conduct over 20 tactical exercises, including those at night.
