For the sake of Armenia's future, the country's president and government must resign, and early presidential and parliamentary elections should be appointed, Raffi Hovhannisyan, the leader of the Armenian 'Heritage' party, said.
He made the remarks at a press conference on Feb. 18, the Armenia Today agency reported.
Hovhannisyan recalled that two years ago on Feb. 18, Armenia held a presidential election, the results of which were rigged, and said the past two years have been for Armenia a loss of "the present day", and now it is necessary to try to save the future.
He said he is sure that all the branches of the government, starting from the president to the local government representatives, should resign.
"All the heads of the regional administrations should resign," he said.
Last week, Armenia's president, Serzh Sargsyan said at a meeting of the ruling 'Republican Party' that the 'Prosperous Armenia' party's leader, Gagik Tsarukyan, as a politician, has become an evil for the country.
He also sacked Tsarukyan as a member of the country's Security Council.
Aside from that, earlier, about two-dozen members of the 'Prosperous Armenia' party were taken from the party's central office to a police station.
Hovhannisyan said that in reality the circus in Armenia was arranged not by the opposition, but by the authorities themselves.
"You want to check Gagik Tsarukyan, check everyone - me and Levon Ter-Petrosyan, and Zhirayr Sefilyan, but start from yourself, from your family, from the current prime minister, the police chief and others," he said.
