Georgian Foreign Minister Advises his Russian Counterpart not to Interfere with Georgia’s Internal Affairs

Georgian Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili advises his Russian counterpart not to interfere with the internal affairs of the neighbouring countries.

Russian Ambassador was called to the Georgian Foreign Ministry to clarify the statements by Sergey Lavrov, Bezhuashvili said to journalists after the meeting with Russian Ambassador Vacheslav Kovalenko on 6 November.

"I want to say you that we called on Russia to abstain from interfering into Georgia's internal affairs and I think the statements by Sergey Lavrov were a little tactless. I want everybody to know that Georgia's future is determined in Georgia, and the future of our nation is in its own hands and in the hands of the authorities it elected," Bezhuashvili stressed.

Russian Ambassador sees nothing offensive in the statements by Lavrov. "Russian Foreign Minister wished a better life to Georgian people and said that Russia was ready to assist that. I see nothing offensive in these words," Kovalenko said.
