Georgian Parliament  Approves New Government

Georgia, Tbilisi / corr. Trend N. Kirtskhalia / The Parliament of Georgia approved the Prime Minister Lado Gurgenidzeh and the new composition of the Government on 31 January. The Government was approved unanimously by 144 votes.

The Prime Minister of Georgia Lado Gurgenidze will submit the new composition of the Government. Both structural and personnel changes took place in the new Cabinet of Ministers. The Cabinet includes 1 Prime Minister (there will be three Prime Ministers after changes made to the Constitution), 5 state minister and 12 ministers.

Georgi Baramidzeh retained the post of state minister on European integration and the post of the Deputy Prime Minister. David Tkeshelashvili, the former minister of Environment and Natural Resources, took up the post of the minister on the Regional Administration, Koba Subeliani, the minister on population and refugees retained his position. The post of the state minister on the regulation of the conflicts was replaced with the post of the state minister on the reintegration and the political scientist Temur Yakobashvili took the post. Archeologist Yulon Gagoshidzeh will act as the state minister on Diaspora.

The minister of defense David Kazarashvili, the interior minister Vano Merabishvili, the minister of finance Nika Gilauri, the minister of power engineering Aleksandr Khetaguri and the minister of agriculture Petre Siskarishvili retained their posts.

Nika Gvaramia, the former deputy general attorney of Georgia took up the post of the minister of justice, Eka Sharashidzeh, the former head of the Presidential Administration - the post of the minister of economic development. Sandro Kvitashvili became the minister of labour, public health and social protection. Zaza Gamtsemlidzeh, the former director of the Botany Institute, now will be the minister of environment and natural resources, Gia Nodia - the minister of education and science, Nikoloz Vacheishvili - the minister of culture and sport. In all, there are 6 new ministers and 2 state ministers in the new government.
