Georgia, Tbilisi / corr. Trend N. Kirtskhalia/ Georgia proposes to deploy Georgia-Abkhaz police in Abkhazia. It will provide conditions to protect the rights of the population in the conflict zone which is currently controled by the Russian peacekeepers, reported the sources in Tbilisi.
Tbilisi belives that the police force will be more efficient and able to provide security to the Gal and Zugdid regions where joint Georgia-Abkhaz criminal groups frequently attack the public.
Commenting on the initiative, Sergey Lovrov, the Russian foreign minister stated that Russia commends any initiative targeted towards solving and reducing tension in the conflict zone. "The important thing is that these initiatives could improve the situation," he said.
