Georgian President’s Special Representative in Conflict Zones Appointed

Georgia, Tbilisi, 22 July / corr. Trend N.Kirtzkhalia / State Minister Temur Yakobashvili was appointed the Georgian President's special representative in conflict zones, the State Ministry said.

Henceforth he is authorized to represent the Georgian President at all meetings on conflict settlements.

The meeting, which was fixed on 22 July on settlement of the Georgian and Ossetia conflict in Brussels at the initiative of the European Union (EU), was break off, because of Tzkhinvali's reluctance to meet with Yakobashvili, who is not a member of the Joint Supervision Commission (JSC) on the Georgian and Ossetia settlement.

The Georgian State Minister stated that existing format of the JSC (Georgia, Russia, North Ossetia and Tzkhinvali) should be changed into other 2+2+2 (Georgia, administration of Sanakoyeva, Russia and de facto authorities of Tzkinvali, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the European Union)
