UN will host presentation in Tbilisi to celebrate International Women's Day

UN celebrates in Tbilisi International Women's Day with presentation of the joint program of the UN "Promoting Gender Equality in Georgia".

The presentation will take place in the organization of the UN Development Program, women's organizations of the UN and the UN Population Fund.

According to the UNDP, the program is funded by Swedish International Development Agency. To mark the International Women's Day and the beginning of the program, the exhibition "Women's question in Georgia at the junction of 19-20 centuries" will be presented.

According to the organizers, the purpose of the event is to disseminate information about the joint initiative of the UN, among the partners, who represent government agencies, non-governmental sector and the media.

The event will open the UN Resident Coordinator in Georgia Jamie McGoldrick, Vice Speaker of Georgian Parliament Rusudan Kervalishvili and the Swedish Ambassador Diana Yanse. The event will be attended by representatives of the executive and legislative authorities of Georgia, diplomatic community, UN agencies, NGOs and the media. According to the coordinators of the program, its purpose is to promote the strengthening of women and implementation of gender equality.
