Over 3 mln lari to be required to eliminate consequences of flood in Tbilisi

Head of Tbilisi’s accomplishment municipal service Giorgi Kochiashvili presented a cost estimate for eliminating the consequences of flooding at a meeting of the city council yesterday.

Head of Tbilisi's accomplishment municipal service Giorgi Kochiashvili presented a cost estimate for eliminating the consequences of flooding at a meeting of the city council yesterday.

Kochishvili said that about 154 families affected by the disaster have received lump sum financial assistance totaling 200,000 lari ($ 1 = 1.63 lari). About 1,300 lari fell to every family. Retaining walls in many homes were damaged. About 43 houses will be repaired. About 2 million lari have been allocated for this purpose. In some cases, the work has already begun.

About 14 damaged houses have been also registered. They will be also repaired. About 250,000 lari have been allocated for this purpose.

Roofs were damaged in 23 houses. About 169,000 lari were allocated for their repair. The drainage and sewerage systems will be repaired. About 400,000 lari will be allocated for these operations.

Kochishvili said that it is necessary to dismantle some constructions damaged during the flood. About 40,000 lari will be allocated for these purposes.

In total, about 3 million 80,000 lari will be required to eliminate the consequences of flooding in Tbilisi.

About five people, including two children died as a result of flooding in Tbilisi.
