Despite pre-election period and the existing problems in the global economy, the government of Georgia expects to improve forecasts of economic growth.

Finance Minister Dmitry Gvindadze said the economy has grown especially in the second quarter (8.1 percent). According to the minister the growth is caused by such factors as openness to trade and investment, as well as an attractive business environment.

The Minister added that the results of successful growth in the first half of the year allow to make an optimistic economic forecast for the entire year.

Gvindadze noted that it is assumed that the real growth will exceed the current forecast of six percent in 2012.
