Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili laid the foundation of a 35-storey 1050-bed hotel in Batumi on Thursday.

The construction of the hotel is carried out by the Georgian company Orbi Group

"We have raised and trained a new working class and the architects who can build better than foreigners and today there is no foreign worker at the construction site," the Georgian president said. He noted that workers receive high wages and work conditions are satisfied.

Saakashvili said Georgian construction companies have achieved such a level that will be able to master the markets of neighboring countries - Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey.

"Our people have shown themselves as excellent workers, and we have achieved a great success in this field in recent years, retraining workers in vocational schools," he said, noting that the most wanted construction professions were also mastered in Georgia.

After the foundation laying ceremony of the new hotel, Saakashvili visited Batumi employment agency, which provided 250 workers for the construction.

Saakashvili stressed that Batumi will become a regional hub of professional education, as the American University of Technology will be open here.
