Rustavi city authorities have refused to permit opposition coalition of Bidzina Ivanishvili Georgia Dream to hold a rally on the central square in front of the Rustavi Mayor's Office on Aug.19. The Mayor's Office also did not allow the coalition to hold a rally in an alternative place - on the Friendship Street.
According to leader of the opposition association's Rustavi youth organization, Vakhtang Kavelashvili, in the first case the Rustavi Mayor's Office calls an event scheduled for Aug.18-19 as a reason for refusal, while the second - the reconstruction work. Although no event was scheduled in front of the Mayor's Office before Georgia Dream's appeal, he said.
Kavelashvili added that the coalition appealed to the Rustavi Mayor's Office, requesting permission for holding a rally on the Shartava Square.
The coalition members will know within three days whether the demand of Georgia Dream will be satisfied or not.
