An unknown armed group is found near the Dagestani section of the Georgian-Russian border in Georgia, the Georgian Interior Ministry said.

The Interior Ministry said the operation is conducted for the pursuit of this group.

Information Center of Kakheti, reports that the police blocked the road leading through the village Lapankuri Telavi region (region of Kakheti, eastern Georgia). Helicopters fly over the village. According to local residents, staff of the Interior Ministry and the military arrived to the village in more than 30 cars in the evening of August 28.

Local residents are in panic. Some residents left the village.

Georgian Interior Minister Bacho Akhalaia was at the village, but refrained from commenting.

Additional brigades of Ambulance are also arrived. The doctors also do not comment, but local journalists report about one wounded, who were taken out of the forest in which the members of the armed group are hiding.

It should be noted that Georgian TV Imedi and Rustavi-2 spread the information in the morning of August 28 that five young men are missed in the woods near the Lapankuri village, which is located on part of the boundary in the direction of Dagestan. Local residents did not rule out that the young people could be taken as a hostage or kidnapped.

Later, the head of the administration of the district center of Telavi said the young men were found. However, so far, they did not return to the native village, and their families do not know where they are.
