Batumi to host joint Georgian-Turkish naval exercises

A Turkish coast guard boat TCSG-71 entered the territorial waters of Georgia. The visit is part of a joint plan of cooperation between Georgia and Turkey in 2012. The purpose of the visit is to exchange experiences in the field of maritime boundary protection and holding joint naval exercises, the border police told Trend on Monday.

A Turkish coast guard boat TCSG-71 entered the territorial waters of Georgia. The visit is part of a joint plan of cooperation between Georgia and Turkey in 2012. The purpose of the visit is to exchange experiences in the field of maritime boundary protection and holding joint naval exercises, the border police told Trend on Monday.

During the visit the Turkish border guards laid wreaths at the memorial to the heroes of the Georgian-Russian war in Poti, on the basis of the Coast Guard.

They also held a meeting with the Mayor of Poti and the leadership of the Georgian Coast Guard Department.

On September 11, Turkish border boat will go to Batumi. Joint naval exercises are scheduled for Sept. 13.
