Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili called on the opposition to unite around the idea of ​​independence and reunification of the country. He called up in Bagrat temple in Kutaisi after the festive consecration of the temple.

"We all have different positions and views on politics, economy, society, but we should be united in one thing - never give our country to the enemy," said the president of Georgia in his speech.

He noted the special role of the Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II, who recovered hundreds of monasteries and temples, built Holy Trinity Cathedral in Tbilisi.

The President also noted that the Patriarch organized schools at all monasteries and to educate the nation.

"We are proud to be making our contribution to the reconstruction of our churches that are part of our culture and of course we are proud that we were able to restore Bagrat temple which symbolizes union of Georgia," Saakashvili said.

The President of Georgia noted that residents of Georgia must act together to make efforts to unite the country and bring the Abkhazians and Ossetians.

"It is beyond the power of the authorities and the opposition, the case of the people and I think that the process has started," Saakashvili said.

On Sunday, by the call of Georgian Patriarch representatives of all major political forces in Georgia brought together in Bagrat temple. Ilia II made the festive service, which was attended by politicians and a few thousand members from all over Georgia.

Temple was demolished in the 18th century after there was not performed divine service. By the initiative of the Mikheil Saakashvili rebuilding of the temple began in 2009.
