Five foreign ministers arrive in Georgia from EU countries for elections

The foreign ministers of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania and Romania have arrived in Georgia today for the upcoming parliamentary elections on October 1.

The foreign ministers of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania and Romania have arrived in Georgia today for the upcoming parliamentary elections on October 1.

The ministers said at the Tbilisi airport that the visit is to support the democratic elections, the reforms in Georgia and the process of Euro-Atlantic integration.

The ministers of the five EU countries will meet with President Saakashvili, Speaker David Bakradze, Secretary of the National Security Council Giga Bokeria, opposition members and the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia.

The ministers said that it is planned to discuss Georgia's efforts on integration into the Euro-Atlantic organisations, as well as relations between the EU and Georgia and security issues in the South Caucasus region.

Swedish and Polish foreign ministers visited Georgia last week. They discussed the preparations for the elections at meetings with the country's leadership and opposition members.
