NATO Assistant Secretary General for Operations Stephen Evans has lauded the Georgian military's participation in an ISAF mission in Afghanistan.

According to the Defense Ministry, Evans visited Krtsanisi national training centre and gave a speech in front of soldiers of 42 battalion of the fourth infantry brigade of Georgian military forces. This unit will start the peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan in spring of 2013.

In his speech, the NATO representative noted that he is proud to meet Georgian soldiers, which will conduct peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan starting March of 2013.

Evans was accompanied by Georgian Defense Minister Dmitry Shashkin.

NATO Assistant Secretary General for Operations Stephen Evans has recently arrived to Georgia on a two day visit.

Evans met with representatives of Georgian government.

Over 900 Georgian soldiers are in Afghanistan. Seventeen has been killed since the start of the Georgian mission with the ISAF.
