The Special State Protection Service may pass under the government's subordination. According to the bill initiated in the Parliament, the service will not submit to the president.

MP Irina Imerlishvili is the initiator of the bill while the committee on defence and security is the author.

After making changes to the law on the Special State Protection Service, the Georgian government will determine the status of the service and to regulate the issues related to its operation, as well as the right to appoint and dismiss the officials.

The bill will be considered at the parliamentary committees next week.

Member of the parliamentary minority Mikhail Machavariani called the initiative as a political decision and stressed that the minority will actively participate in the committee hearings.
