Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze met with her German counterpart Guido Westerwelle during a working visit to Germany. Details of the visit are available on the official social network website of the Foreign Ministry.

Panjikidze said that she visited Germany at the invitation of her colleague, and that the meeting was the most important of the visit. According to the Foreign Ministry, Guido Westerwelle happily accepted her invitation to visit Georgia.

The Georgian Foreign Minister said that it was a long meeting and many issues were discussed.

"We had the opportunity to discuss many issues that are important to Georgia - Georgian-German relations, Georgia's relations with the EU and NATO, where, as we know, Germany has a big impact as one of the leading European countries. We discussed bilateral and multilateral relations. Particular emphasis was made on the restoration and improvement of relations with Russia, because today the German delegation led by Chancellor Angela Merkel went to Moscow, where high-level consultations are planned. This is why, prior to this meeting with the Russian government, German colleagues wanted to know how we are going to fix our relations, which signals are coming from Russia and how the common chances look. We provided comprehensive information, and Germany expressed a willingness to play a positive role in these relations," Panjikidze said.
