Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili has noted the special role of the EU in provision of security and stability in Georgia. According to Georgian prime minister's press service, this was stated by Ivanishvili after the meeting with EU High Representative Catherine Ashton.

"This is particularly evident in EU's support for sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders," the prime minister noted.

Ivanishvili also thanked the EU for its active participation in the Geneva process.

"This is reflected in the actions of the EU special representative in the issues on crisis in the South Caucasus," he said.

Georgian Prime Minister thanked the EU for its non-recognition policy of the Georgian separatist regions.

According to Ivanishvili's press service, Ashton and the prime minister discussed topical issues of interest to Georgia within relations with the EU.
